Education and training play an important role in creating social cohesion and an efficiently functioning labour market. Education and training - by taking diversity in all its forms - should ensure equal participation conditions for all and are an essential factor in the social and economic inclusion of disadvantaged groups. At the same time, education and training play a key role in developing individuals' capacities as well as enhancing their ability to think critically and to express fair and independent judgments. Developing skills, competences and knowledge in a lifelong learning perspective is key to a well-functioning labour market in which individual giftedness can flourish. It is essential to find solutions to prepare young people for the changing requirements of the labour market, and at the same time to constantly update and improve the skills of young people already present on the labour market.
